sunday's conversation

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

On Sunday, Todd and I went on the local garden tour. Although he didn't really want to come, we had a nice time. Rarely do we have a few hours alone together where we aren't socializing at some party (read: drinking) or trying to scurry around the house and get as many things done before the kids get home.

Sometimes Todd just cracks me up. We started having a conversation about why American car makers have so utterly failed. He immediately spotted 2 cars whose designs are so horrible that to him, they are proof.

First:

"The Chevy Uplander: Why would anyone ever buy that car? It looks just like a platypus."

Second:

"The Ford Probe. Not to be confused with a suppository"

Manbag/Murse

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

From Wikipedia:

Manbags (a portmanteau of 'man' and 'handbags') are fashionable bags for men. Sometimes also called murse (a portmanteau of 'man' and 'purse'). Though the traditional briefcase is technically a manbag, in the current sense of the term, manbags refer to messenger bags and reporter bags. Popular[citation needed] brands include Prada, Louis Vuitton, Tumi, Gucci,Lacoste,Balenciaga, Timbuk2 and Crumpler.

So T and I were eating lunch at Schlotzky's (funny name, serious sandwich) today and this guy walks in and is in line with a woman and the following conversation occurs:

Me: "Look, that guy totally has a murse. It's even smaller than a regular messenger bag, so I think that qualifies it as a murse."

T: "Nuh uh."

Me: "Yes-huh. Look at it. He even has it over his shoulder like a purse"

T: "No way. It has to be like his box lunch or something."

Me: "No really, I have been reading about murses, they are all over these days. Besides, why would he come into Schlotzky's with a freakin' box lunch?"

T: "There are absolutely NO murses this side of the Appalachian Mountains."

Me: "Whatever."

So, I continue to watch this guy as he gets nearer to the order counter, and sure enough, he places the bag on the counter, and pulls out...

HIS CHECKBOOK/WALLET THINGY!

I WIN! I WIN! I WIN!

T still claims It was only an illusion. Or else, he was hiding a vagina in his pants.

Let's do some sex math...

Friday, August 15, 2008

On Tuesday, Reuters reported that the Beijing Olympic Games are providing 100,000

(yes, that is the correct number of zeros)

condoms for the athletes.

The Sydney games in 2000 started with 70,000 condoms and they ran out

and needed to ship in 20,000 more!

So, here is the math:

Number of Olympic athletes: 10,500

Number of condoms: 100,000

Number of Days in Olympic Village: 29

SO...

that is 9.5 (let's round up to 10) condoms per athlete

and sex every 2.9 (let's round up to 3) days.

Do you REALLY think those athletes are having sex every 3 days?

Speak up and comment, I'd love to hear your opinions!

Bumper stickers

Thursday, May 15, 2008

So my hubby and I just had this funny discussion of some bumper stickers he has seen lately (he drives a lot, and frequently in red-neck and military base areas.) The phrase Whisky Tango came up many times in our conversation...He claims the stickers he sees are usually on the back of pick-up trucks, and he wonders how bad your life really has to be to have one of these on the back of your car.
"I mean, there could be a car-load of nuns behind you and you have this on the back of your car." Direct quote from husband.

Another he has witnessed lately:

more "Calvin" stickers here.

here are a few more that I wish he had seen:

nice...(buy it here)

the best part about this one is that it is obviously sandwiched between some other stickers! If you can get away with putting this on your car, buy it here!

not a bumper sticker but still funny! Thanks, Voodoo Zebra!

I might just have to write a whole different blog just recapping some of my conversations with my husband! He is funny!
