I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel pressure. I feel pressure to make profound, witty, crack-you-up comments on blog posts. I feel pressure to write wonderful, well thought out blog posts. Do you ever feel like that?
I understand that comments are often how other folks "find" your blog. I want people to find me, but not in that way. I really post for my own self. I post to get myself to write things. I post to remind me how good it feels to think something through and write about it. To compose it...like in high school when you had to write that paper for English. I post to have a place for my photographs (which I am enjoying taking very much, thank you.).
I love reading all of your blogs, and I really do read all of your posts, but I don't very often comment. I want to, but I can't think of something to say, other than...cool...I agree...or beautiful! Please forgive me if I don't comment, and if I don't answer your comments. Most days, I just don't have the eloquence I think you deserve.

"Cool" or "I agree" would both work for me. It makes me so sad when I post something I think is BRILLIANT and nobody even comments on it, good or bad.
'Blog Like Nobody's Reading' Amanda! 'Tis the only way it works for me.
And if you're thinking like that than comments or no comments - it don't matter.
:)
I have to agree with mamacita. Sometimes its so sad when I think I've been funny and no one responds. It makes me want to post again and say "See? I was funny there. Don't you think??"
I agree Amanda, but I also agree with Molly. Just blog what you want to blog about and how you want and people will read. Sometimes I just don't want to be funny, and feel that pressure. But, people keep reading, so it all works out. Just keep going and we will keep reading!
I completely see where you are coming from. I rarely write a comment that I think is insightful or witty or whatever. But if I've enjoyed reading something, then I feel it's only fair to comment as the author has spent time/energy/emotional energy putting it together. REading and running feels quite 'voyeurish' to me!
I'm a really new blogger, and I'm doing it because I love writing and taking photos. But all of a sudden there is this community and I feel bound to everyone in it - so I comment because it's the supportive thing to do. It means a lot to me when people comment!
Does that make any sense at all LOL!

I agree with my whole heart. I also get trapped in google reader, ready to click on the next thing, even if the thing I'm on is the funniest thing ever (you listening, mamacita?).
Maybe we can talk with each other, like regular people, on the 4th? :)
Sometimes it's all I can do to write my own posts, and there are weeks when I sadly click "mark all as read" on my reader feed because I like so many bloggers and I get so far behind reading.
Love your blog. I, too, sometimes feel bad for not commenting. But I read whenever I can!
i know this feeling very well...and get totally overwhelmed by all those posts piling up in the reader. if mary can "mark all as read," maybe i can too...
and i don't think you should feel pressure about anything to do with blogging, because it is totally what you make it to be. and you should do it for yourself first and foremost.
you're fine!

I get this completely.
There have been two things in the last month or so that I have been realllly excited to post, and neither received any comments. Then there are other things that I don't care that much about and they receive a ton! I try not to think about it, but I know what you mean.
Also, did you purposely make it so that your posts aren't available in google reader?
This posting falls into my "I agree" category, though I would also like to emphasize that it is also "cool" and "beautiful" as well.
But seriously... I agree!
