I am in the market for a good printer-copier-color scanner-machine-thingy-ma-bobber
I am thinking about the $400 HP Photosmart C8180 All-In-One, Do any of you have opinions?
- I need to be able to print good quality holiday cards in small quantities
- I want to be able to scan in color
- I want it to be wireless
- I would REALLY like to find a good laser one rather than ink jet, but those seem to be out of my price range; any ideas?
- Copier is not necessary, but would be REALLY convenient.
Comment away, please.

aren't they always a copier and a scanner? i think so these days. i have a slightly lower-end HP (4280) than the one you're looking at, but actually like it quite a lot (despite the fact that it will not use the scan function with my Mac and i have to drag out an old PC if i want to scan anything). it prints all different sizes of things quite well, including all sorts of photo papers.
the one you're looking at would probably do all of that even better than mine, which i got from my sister who got it free with her Mac.
but, if you read printer reviews online (esp. on photo-related sites), people say very good things about epson printers.
that's my two cents' worth. :-)
As an HP employee, I'm obviously biased, but I think this would fit your need. I checked CNET's review and the pluses were features you were looking for(Photo quality/wifi), while the minuses weren't things you seemed too concerned about (slow/a bit pricey) CNET Review
My mom replaced her old HP printer (Hurricane Ike flood casualty)with a lower end wireless HP printer similar to this one. She seemed to really like it. It was temporarily placed on a foldout table and I recall it shook a fair bit when printing, but it could have just been the table...
