On Saturday, Cara and I ran in the St. Patty's Day 10K race in Manhattan, KS. It was a beautiful day and the green beer after the race was even better! Above is not the finish line for our race, nor was it our time. We did it in 1:07. Which is not quite the 10 minute mile I wanted to do, but whatever.
We have been without children in our house since Friday morning. It feels strangely quiet, but relaxing. I will be lonely tonight, and anxious for them to be home sometime tomorrow. My brave, brave mother drove with them to Houston to visit my brother for a few days. Since the children are gone, I have successfully:
- run a road race
- painted my fingernails
- made bread from here...awesome!
- wheelbarrow-ed compost to the veggie gardens and tore apart the old, rotten compost pile
- worked out and put off dinner until 8pm most nights
- had a 5:30pm committee meeting
Aaah, the joys of spring break! Later this week we are off to Kansas City to watch the first round of the NCAA tournament being hosted there. Carson is over the moon about it! Pics to come!
